Dairy Barn Destroyed By Fire in Stonycreek Township
A Stonycreek Township dairy farm owned by William Hassel of Friedens was consumed by flames at milking time around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Shanksville and Berlin volunteers fought the blaze, saving the garage milk house and home but six heifers and several calves perished. The fire destroyed the two story 20 cow barn and farm implements were lost on the second floor.
