Thieves Take Picking Car On Thursday Night
State and county officers pursued two auto thieves who stole Boyd Picking's maroon 1940 Mercury convertible sedan from 411 South Center Avenue around 8:45 PM. The car with license plate 17K59 disappeared from a driveway after Picking briefly left it unattended. Officers linked the theft to a separate report of a maroon convertible seeking fuel at a Jennertown service station around 8:15 PM with two men, one hatless, described as about 25. The car headed west on the Lincoln highway toward Greensburg. Picking had left keys in the ignition for a short period.
