Harrisburg AP The Shafer administration urged the Senate to delay action on a House approved teacher salary bill as finance questions loom. Secretary Arthur Sampson said the 52 million raise disrupts the governor’s 2 billion budget with only 27.9 million earmarked for teachers. Republicans defended the bill, offering budget cuts but not detailing where. The clash signals a rift between the administration and House GOP over education funding.
State Public Welfare reports January payments to Somerset County residents not on public aid totaled $79,991, $51,010 more than a year earlier, with hospital care at $23,688 for 101 residents, and county and state institutions handling 496 total medical cases across various services.
Ralph E.
