Philadelphia March 7 Twenty thousand American made air plane bombs being shipped to a foreign power were loaded on the German freighter Kellerwald in the Delaware River. The ship had Bremen papers but brokers believed the cargo would be re shipped elsewhere. An employee of Dichmann Wright and Pugh declined to disclose destination. The vessel lay off Carneys Point New Jersey near the DuPont munitions plant at Wilmington. DuPont denied involvement saying the bombs were brought to Wilmington by train and loaded at Carneys Point because engineers designated that site for loading explosives. Longshoremen transferred the bombs two per case to the freighter from a large lighter.

His first police statement claimed two men robbed him.
