Scotty Seifert Condition Worsens at Pittsburgh Hospital
Scotty Seifert two year old cancer victim remains in serious condition at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Family friends say his condition is worsening. He is the son of Kenneth and (Mrs.) Seifert of Somerset. The rare ligament cancer led to the removal of his left foot last year and has spread to his lungs and right arm. He received two new anti cancer drugs. the first stalled the disease while the second caused illness and was discontinued.

Milk price board hikes pay to farmers by two cents a quart

Pearl Buck Dies at 80 Nobel Laureate and Author
Pearl S. Buck, Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Good Earth, died at 80 in Danby Vermont after a long illness. Born in 1892 in West Virginia, she lived much of her youth in China and later settled in Pennsylvania where she and her husband adopted nine children and founded the Pearl S. Buck Foundation.
