Two Holsopple Girls Drown In Flooded Stream
Three year old Elizabeth Leventry and her friend Mary Ann Berkey drowned Tuesday afternoon as heavy rain swelled a small stream near their Holsopple homes. The Berkey body was found entangled in bushes where the Davidsville run meets the stream. the Leventry body remained missing as dredging continued. Coroner Dosch investigated as volunteers labored in pouring rain, with Pvt. Earl Leventry of Fort Riley and both families noting the tragedy and ongoing search.

SGT. BAUMAN KILLED IN PHILIPPINES IN WORLD WAR II
Technical Sergeant Cecil Bauman 33 of Somerset was killed in action in the Philippines in February. He served 12 years in the armed forces, carried by a tank battalion before joining the 1011th bridge company of the army engineers. Surviving are his widow Theresa DeLisia and their nine year old son Bobby, plus sisters Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Banes and brother Neil.
