Four men aged 45 to 55 and two 19 to 20 year olds spent about eight harrowing hours trapped by a 100 ton rock fall 150 feet from a Quemahoning township house coal mine near Stoystown. Neighbors and Mine Inspector F W Cunningham directed rescue efforts as the trapped men worked to stay calm and use a produced telephone to receive guidance.
