Girl Killed Near Home In Kantner Hit By Car
An 11 year old girl, Patricia Catherine Berkebile, was killed in Kantner when a southbound car struck her bicycle as she turned into her yard. Driver Joseph Esposita, 26, could not see her in time and swerved but failed to avoid the collision. Patricia died of a brain concussion with neck fracture and other injuries. an inquest is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at John Deaner funeral home Stoystown, with Private W H Uhl investigating.

Four Men Injured In Turnpike Collision
Four men were injured when a sedan driven by John Smilton crossed the median and hit a tractor trailer on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near New Baltimore service station. Smilton suffered leg fractures and faced reckless driving charges. The truck driver Roy Weigler had a bruised knee. Passengers Joan Stiffler and George Walhouseer sustained multiple injuries.
