Death claims former county commissioner Trevorrow
Rich ard Wilkinson Trevorrow died suddenly at his South Kimberly Avenue home Saturday night about 10 45 PM from a cerebral hemorrhage. He arose that morning noting blurred vision and was found semi conscious by his daughter Margaret about 3 PM. a physician said the stroke likely occurred around 2 30 PM. Born November 24 1872 in Johnstown he moved to Somerset county at 19 to work as a stone cutter and later held major roles in construction and contracting across several states. He served as county commissioner from 1939 to 1949 and was known as Old Rover the treasury watchdog. He was a Republican and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Masons Jaffa Temple and the New Castle consistory. He recently retired to work with Rothey Construction in Pittsburgh.

A Chicago bound Baltimore and Ohio passenger train and a freight collision near South Pittsburgh disrupted mainline service for ten hours. All 650 passengers remained safe, but the diesel locomotive and baggage car derailed, five freight cars left the track, and over 100 yards of track were torn up. Damage was placed at about $100,000 with a railroad inquiry planned. The diesel was piloted by B F Smith of Connellsville.
