In Somerset County the Democratic committee re elected Levi G Lichliter of Boswell as county chairman 78 to 55. The meeting drew about a thousand partisans who cheered boos and carried him on their shoulders after the roll call. A late vote kept Mabel Rhodes as vice chair with 9 to 22 for Elizabeth Pomroy as Uhl supporter.

In Harrisburg on June 20, two psychiatrists told Gov. Earle that Roy Lockard, slated to die next Monday, is mentally deficient but not insane with a mental age of seven and a half to eight. He was convicted of the spike slaying of 3 year old Matthew Karmendi. The child's mother Mrs. Margaret Karmendi was sentenced to death but later given a prison term. The state alleges Sonny was killed to stop him from talking about dates of Mrs. Karmendi and Lockard.

Miller Waives Theft Hearing In Central City Case
Olin Miller of Central City waived hearing on charges of breaking entering and larceny from the G Z chain store robbery Saturday night. He was remanded to county jail after failing to post bond. The fire following the break in caused about 400 dollars in damage and ten residents were rescued from apartments above the store. Police say about 400 dollars in cash and checks were stolen from a hiding place in a refrigerator. The entrance was gained by boring a door hole and releasing the lock. Miller will be held for the next grand jury.
