156th Annual Meeting At Asheville
The national Church of the Brethren conference met in Asheville North Carolina with about two thousand attendees. President Paul H Bowman of Bridgewater was elected moderator and urged unity in faith and humanitarian policy as the church marks its 200th conference. Official greetings from India China Africa Sweden and South American nations were presented. Bowman defended the peace position and urged democracy and constructive citizenship despite national crisis.

World War Hero Ordered to Active Duty
Harrisburg June 15. E A Doepke Jr president of the Harrisburg chamber of commerce has been ordered to active duty with the United States Army Air Corps as a major. Doepke, advertising manager of the Harrisburg Patriot and Evening News, will report to the Air Corps Training School at Miami Beach Florida and later to the Army Air Depot at Middletown. He is a World War I veteran and received the Croix de guerre twice.

33 Cars Wreck Blocks PRR Tracks Near Wilmore
In Johnstown on June 15 a derailment of 33 freight cars blocked four main tracks of the PRR. By midnight two tracks were reopen and damage ran to several thousand dollars. A broken flange on a wheel caused the derailment, but no injuries were reported. The wreck happened near the Wilmore watering shed on a busy east west route.

Car Kills Boy in Lebanon Traffic Accident

Rock Fall Kills Darrigo at Somerset Mine
John Darrigo 53 of Somerset was killed by a rock fall in the Consolidation Coal mine at Acosta. He owned Darrigo Park near the Somerset airport on Route 219. Coroner Dr. P. C. Dosch said the death was due to a fractured skull and left leg. An inquest was postponed pending Mine Inspector F. W. Cunningham's investigation. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
