Harrisburg June 14 The General Assembly’s tax deadlock moves to the Senate this week with two levies in play a six mill gross receipts tax on gas companies and a one per cent rise in the corporate net income tax. If adopted these would raise about 62 million for two years. The Senate will tackle balancing the 1.4 billion budget as the House is in recess. Gov Fine says 118 million in new taxes are needed. The House previously defeated a general sales tax and lawmakers debated extending levies amid a stalemate.
