Rural Electric Cooperative Holds Annual Meeting and Directors Elected

The Rural Electric Cooperative of Somerset County held its annual meeting at Somerset Area Senior High School Auditorium. Three directors were elected for districts One Five and Nine: John D. Naugle Dalton B. Walker and Troy Glass. Official William F. Matson warned costs would rise before improvement and praised the co op for low maintenance. Officers Sechler Spoerlein and Walker were reelected in a reorganizational session.

Somerset Borough Police filed charges against David Chytil of Pittsburgh for theft by deception. Two Sentenced for Bomb Threats at Blacksville Mine

In Monongalia County two people received jail terms for making bomb threats against Consolidation Coal Co. Blacksville No. 1 mine. John William Raber 19 of Spraggs Pa. got one year in county jail. Virginia Lee Mercer 19 of Blacksville got 90 days. Judge Marvin Kiger presided.

Public bodies shut meetings to public viewing in Bucks County

Bucks County agencies drew fire for barring public access to meetings except where official actions are taken.
