Memorial Day area crashes report multiple police incidents
Five area accidents were reported by Pennsylvania State Police and one by Somerset Borough Police during the Memorial Day weekend. A RD 3 woman, Helen E. Reese, 44, survived a one car crash on SR 55066 north of Bakersville and was listed in fair condition after being treated at Somerset Community Hospital.

Water Bill Opens Path for Township Water Systems

Lester Earl Chaney a nine year old boy died Sunday afternoon at 1 30 p m in Schellsburg while tadpole catching in a creek near his grandmother's farmhouse He was visiting with his mother Shirley and his father Charles Chaney and with two step brothers Kenneth 8 and Paul 6 The two brothers ran to summon their grandmother Mrs Annie Chaney who called the Shawnee Valley Fire Department The body was recovered by the Schellsburg fire department and pronounced dead by Bedford County Deputy Coroner Ralph Nickle.
