Ceramic Christmas trees grow in basement business
Paul J. Coleman of 217 Broadway Berlin creates 500 ceramic Christmas trees for Penn Alps and other markets. The basement workshop houses a kiln reaching 2300 degrees where molds shape, glaze, and bake the decorative pieces. Coleman, an educable mentally retarded children’s instructor, pursues ceramics as avocation and has long worked with the Somerset County Artists Association.

Playhouse Founder James Stoughton Dies
James Stoughton 61 of Stoughton Lakes Jenners town founder and co owner of Green Gables and Mountain Playhouse died at home after a lingering illness. He built the Tuscany Room in 1963 married Theresa Mullane in 1964 and received an honorary life membership in Somerset County Artists Association this month.
