Windber to Get 206000 HUD Heating Grant
The Housing Authority of Somerset County will receive a 206700 grant from HUD to install individual heating and hot water systems in Windber Stadium Terrace, replacing two aging central boiler plants. Oscar Wiltrout notes 13 garden-style buildings housing 100 families will benefit as engineers support the project and funding remains limited for a new senior citizens project.

Mrs. Jessie Thayer Shaffer of Berlin celebrates her 91st birthday on January 27. A pianist and cellist, she taught music in private lessons for nearly 69 years and worked as a music teacher in several colleges.
