Railroads Win About Five Percent Temporary Freight Rise
The Interstate Commerce Commission granted railroads a temporary freight increase averaging just over 5 percent. The 8 percent request was reduced to about 5 percent to take effect until the commission rules on a permanent 13 percent raise. Receiver Frank Butler ordered to show cause within five days why petitions should not be granted.
