Five Year Physician Dead at Conneaut Lake

Wheeling, W. Va. Dec 28 General Thomas S. Riley aged 86 died after a lengthy illness. He was the last member of the state old guard Democrats who led the party before 1900. Born January 8, 1852 in Marshall County he served five years as Democratic state chairman and was attorney general for a period. He sought the U S Senate in 1897 and 1906 but was defeated both times.

Priest Killed When Car Skids Over Bank
In Weirton West Virginia on December 28 Rev Girard Spencer 29 acting pastor of the Catholic Church at Dennison Ohio was killed when the automobile he rode in skidded over a 75 foot embankment. Rev H L Reedy 33 of Columbus Ohio was critically injured. The priests were returning from a holiday visit in Pittsburgh and were both graduates of St Vincent's Seminary near Greensburg Pennsylvania. Police attributed the crash to an icy spot on the pavement.
