Couple found dead from illuminating gas blast
In Wilkes Barre on December 27 Anthony Burett a 49 year old nightclub proprietor and his wife Ruth 44 were found dead in a gas filled apartment by friends Ray and Mrs Hottle. Mrs Hottle suffered facial burns from an explosion when she tried to shut off gas from a kitchen range. The blast shattered three kitchen windows. Coroner Dr. Lewis Reese ruled the Burnetts died from illuminating gas.
