One Dead Dozen Injured in Two Day Ice Crash Spree
One man died and about a dozen were injured in a string of highway crashes during a two day ice slick period in the Jennerstown area. Otis Williams, 50, of Danville Va., died when his car hit a truck on the Ligonier mountain. The driver, William Hunter, 32, and his 13 year old son were seriously hurt. Hunter's car skidded on ice and collided with a truck driven by David Pitzer of Jeannette on the Lincoln highway near Jennerstown. Police said negligence was indicated but no charges were reported. Several others, including Paul Lazaro of New York City and Paul Oakus of Holsopple, suffered injuries in separate crashes along the same route. The Somerset patrol area reported no accidents over the two day holiday period.
