Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services are announced across Somerset county. Trinity Lutheran in Somerset offers 7 and 10:30 p.m. services with multiple choirs, solos, and a 11 p.m. Eucharistic service. St Pauls UCC in Somerset hosts 7:30 p.m. family worship, an 11 p.m. Holy Communion, and a Christmas play. Boy Rescued After Near Drowning In Tub Mill Run
A three year old West Salisbury boy nearly drowned after falling into Tub Mill Run near his home. Paul Hostetler of Garrett revived him with artificial respiration after the ice broke. Fellow worker Darrel Klink aided after spotting the blue snowsuit and current carried the boy 40 yards. He was treated at Meyersdale Community Hospital and listed in good condition with Christmas hopes at home.

County Home Residents Move To Donegal Motel
About 12 elderly residents from Somerset County Home for the Aged will be housed on the ground floor of the Laurel Highlands Motor Lodge near the Donegal Turnpike Interchange as a precaution ahead of possible AFSCME strike. The move, approved by County Commissioners, covers housing in a motel and hospitals with domiciliary care fees paid by the county. union leaders dispute the plan and question licensing and facility adequacy. The two-year home staff contract ends Dec 31 and negotiations continue.
