A crowd of about 200 Japanese waited outside the Russian embassy in Tokyo seeking word on relatives listed as prisoners missing since 1945. Russian guards blocked entry while MacArthur called for investigation by neutral parties or the Red Cross.
An unprotected incinerator belonging to Mr and Mrs Harold Ben ignited at the rear of their Rock apartment on Catherine street at 1 pm Thursday. Fire Chief Richard C Miller said no damage resulted.
President Truman said he is optimistic about the nation’s business prospects and plans to address taxes and the budget in January messages to Congress. He would elaborate in his annual State of the Union and economic and budget messages.

The girl was found aboard a bus at Mrs. Andrew Schrock’s home in Johnstown R D and identified herself after being questioned.
A holiday car excursion ended in a fatal crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike east of New Stanton at about 8:30 am. Four youths were involved when their car split in two after rear-ending a trailer truck. Two men were killed, two others seriously injured. Names identified include Pfc. Joseph Mevorah, 19, of Chicago, and Sergei Tarnoff, 24, Hillside, New Jersey, a University of Missouri student.
