UN Defeats for Russian Bloc at Global Assembly
In Paris on December 20, the United Nations handed defeats to the Russian bloc. Greece won a seat on the Security Council on a record 19th ballot with 39 votes to White Russia’s 16 while 55 votes were cast overall. Britain’s late shift helped Greece reach a two-thirds majority. The Assembly then formed a five-nation commission to study free elections in all Germany, naming Brazil Iceland the Netherlands Pakistan and Poland to the group.
