A Shanksville couple, J Ohler 22 and Mrs. L Ohler 19, were hurt when their car struck two runaway horses near Shanksville as dusk fell. The horses, belonging to Bedford Motor Sales, had escaped a nearby farm. Both Ohlers were treated at Somerset Community Hospital. Mrs Ohler remained overnight and was discharged Sunday.

Militia Save Negro From Mob at Georgetown Jail
A mob of about 300 armed men gathered at Georgetown county jail seeking an alleged black assailant. Killed While Seeking Help On Stalled Car In Central Town
James Crook, 21, of Lock Haven was killed on the Milesburg Lock Haven highway after his car ran out of gas. State patrolman H Rosenboom said he arrested Jess Irwin, 23, of Jersey Shore on a hit and run charge after Irwin’s truck left Milebourg before the accident. Irwin recalled swerving to pass Crook’s parked car but did not know he struck anyone.

PRR Freights In Collision Near Lock Haven
A freight train collision near Hall, three miles west of Lock Haven, injured Kilee and three others while killing engineer William L. Brougham of Kamira, N Y. Seventeen cars of the eastbound train and one of the westbound train were wrecked on the single track. Sixteen people were treated. Schwab suffered a fractured pelvis and chest injuries, Camery and Spaide had bruises and shocks, while Spaide required hospital care. Traffic was rerouted and buses used for passengers.
