Canonsburg Man Lost On Negro Mt
Steve Rossero of Canonsburg became lost for nearly twenty hours during a deer hunt on Negro Mountain in the Vought stream section. A Garrett search, aided by about 35 volunteers, failed to find him until he wandered to a farmer’s home at daylight and was driven to Rockwood. He built a fire and signaled, but searchers did not see it. Rossero, unhurt, later reached his Canonsburg home. Van Pelt of a prominent Philadelphia family at Cherry Springs airport in Potter County. Sallade testified he shot as a gun was pointed at him while guarding the property against robbers. District Attorney Robert J. Flint argued the act was lying in wait.

A weekend spell of winter weather blanketed Somerset county with snow flurries and icy highways. One highway mishap involved Mrs. A. L. Pearson, 38, from Cleveland, who suffered a chest injury and was admitted to Somerset Community Hospital as police noted the turnpike was largely clear of heavy snow. Five investment firms from Pittsburgh submitted the winning bid of 125 009 dollars for Somerset County bonds sold Saturday. The best bidder paid 125 225 dollars including a 225 dollar premium with an interest rate of 1 967 percent. The Somerset county sinking fund commission was the only other bidder at par. Fauset Steele and Company of Pittsburgh arranged the deal for the five corporations. Funds will finance a new tax assessment system while construction has begun to convert the courthouse assembly room into office space.
