Free Miller of Blame in Girl's Death
A Cairnbrook coroner jury absolved Percy S. Miller of blame in the death of 13 year old Elsie Leveski struck near Shade Township High School. The accident occurred about 5 Tuesday evening when she stepped from her brother’s car. Elsie died at Windber hospital after injuries including a skull fracture and crushed chest. Her parents and many siblings survive. funeral arrangements are by Charles Brumbaugh.

Scottdale, December 14. Acheff, 45 year old confectioner, died in Mt. Pleasant hospital from head injuries and a bullet wound after robbers struck his store. John Shondoff of Everson found him. Patrolman Warrick reported two men entering the shop and suspects a robbery. Police from Greensburg aided the search for the assailants.

Somerset’s Samuel S. Crouse American Legion posts plans to host a Christmas party likely December 24 in the post room. About 300 underprivileged children will receive a Santa Claus, treats, and entertainment, with invitations issued through public schools. Officers elected at the annual meeting include J. Guy Gnngey president, Dr. L. R. Martin vice president, J. M. Kantner secretary, and W. E. McNutt treasurer. The youth committee adds ping pong tables and a dart ball for Sons of the Legion, with a possible drum corps. Two Holsopple Men Injured In Bridge Crash
Two Holsopple men were hurt when a sedan struck a Stonycreek River bridge in Holsopple early Saturday. Joseph Evanchok, 24, collapsed at home and later went to Johnstown Memorial hospital with scalp and left hip injuries. he was discharged Wednesday. Long terms for burglars given by Judge Boose
Judge Norman T. Boose handed long penitentiary terms to three confessed burglars. Roman Caudron, 26, Hooversville, received three concurrent 3 to 6 year sentences with solitary confinement and hard labor for breaking into the American Stores Co. in Central City on June 30 1937 and stealing a safe containing 105 dollars and damaging it. He also admitted to a separate May 29 1937 burglary at Hooversville A and P. Caudron faced additional charges of statutory rape adultery and bastardy and was sentenced on all counts. His accomplices Joseph Jerin and Eddie Melluschnik of Wilburton were sentenced to 18 months to three years in the Western penitentiary with costs and fines. Caudron said he had previously served a year in the Allegheny county workhouse and hoped to start anew after his release.

Beaver, Dec 14. A suspect in the March killing of Monaca beer truck driver Tony Spitale was seized after Virgil E. Reynolds of Lockport, N Y, reportedly admitted involvement and named another gunman nicknamed Louis the Carpenter. Reynolds reportedly said he received 580 dollars for helping kill Spitale. Police say Spitale’s body was found in the Ohio River near Rochester after a slaying tied to rackets. Reynolds, already jailed on counterfeiting charges, is said to have confessed to another killing in Monaca.
