Capital Airliner Crashes Into Potomac In Dense Fog
A Capital Airlines flight en route from Memphis to Washington crashed into the Potomac River in pea soup fog near National Airport. Three or four may be dead. at least 19 rescued from mid river as Navy and Air Force crash boats assisted. Co pilots W. J. Davis and L. L. Porter are believed dead. flight attendant John W. Buell survived. Two bodies were seen near the front of the wreckage as salvage efforts continued into night.
