He served with Company G 116th Infantry 29th Division, was inducted October 1943, shipped overseas April 4 1944, and participated in D Day activities earning a presidential citation and the Purple Heart. He had been in three hospitals in England and was home on a weekend pass March 12. He is survived by his mother sister Betty and maternal grandparents and was engaged to Miss Mary Ellen Mosgrove of Berlin.
