Three Somerset Men Injured in Greensburg Crash
Three Somerset county men Floyd B. Phillips Lester Wyant and Oscar Krougner were injured in a two car rear end collision on Route 40 near Irwin west of Greensburg. Phillips 34 suffered rib fractures and concussion Wyant 33 sustained deep neck lacerations shock and concussion Krougner had severe lip and facial lacerations and concussion. The other driver Ralph Lawrence and his family escaped unharmed. The crash occurred around 5 19 Tuesday evening and damage was estimated at 700 for Phillips car and 600 for Lawrences.

New Gas Field Discovered in Elk County Pennsylvania
Keta Gas and Oil, subsidiary of United States Leather, announced a new gas field in northcentral Pennsylvania near Benezette in Elk County. The discovery lies six miles southwest of Driftwood field wells and about 20 miles south west of the Leidy gas fields, with 850 acres and potential for five more wells. The discovery well reaches the Oriskany sand at 6950 feet and initially produced three million cubic feet daily. Drilling continues and a pipeline is under construction to service current and future wells.
