Burnsworth Removed to Pittsburgh for Hearing on Kidnapping
Alfred Burnsworth 23, a deserter from the U S Army, confessed to aiding the November 29 post office hold up and kidnapping of Mahlon J. Miller. He was moved by U S marshal from Somerset to Pittsburgh en route to Toledo for trial on kidnapping and auto theft charges. Companion William Robertson alias Bud Russell, a Canadian deserter, is jailed in Toledo on Lindbergh and Dyer acts charges with $10,000 bail.

Black man dies after scuffle with Pittsburgh officers
Harold Ware aged 52 died after a confrontation with three plain clothes members of a police vice squad in Pittsburgh. Cab Riders Die on Turnpike Collision Tragedy
Two cab riders Bernard Swain and A Melvin of Ambridge were crushed and burned to death when two trucks loaded with steel rails collided seven miles west of Bedford on the Pennsylvania turnpike. Albert Tietjen of Ambridge and Herbert Rittenhouse of Hanover were seriously hurt as fire destroyed both trucks while Rittenhouse stopped to aid a third motor trouble vehicle.
