A KLM DC2 airliner crashed after takeoff from Croydon in dense fog killing 14 aboard and injuring several others. Survivors included Walter Schwoerk and Von Bemmel. stewardess Franieln von Bon Gertman escaped. The crash cut telephone lines and delayed rescue.
