Fred W. Jacobs was nominated as president of the Somerset volunteer fire department at a Friday fire hall meeting. He will succeed Floyd Heiple who withdrew. Jacobs, a past Somerset County Firemen’s Association president, has served since 1950 and is with General Telephone. He is on the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association board and was vice president last year. Walter S. Heist was nominated as vice president to succeed Jacobs. Other officers and directors were re-nominated or named. election is set for December 21. A committee was formed for the annual banquet in early January.
