Virginia Barron was chosen as Somerset Maple Princess before about 750 people and will represent Somerset Area Senior High School in the Maple Queen Contest at Johnstown. Somerset Area School Board re elected Clyde Will as president at its monthly meeting last night. Charles Berkey was elected vice president and Fred Brubaker was appointed to a five year term on the Somerset Joint School Authority. Resignation of Mrs. Margaret Mickey was accepted and to take effect at end of first semester. A sabbatical leave was granted to Mrs. Maude Smalley for the second term. Mrs. Frederica Christensen was appointed as full time substitute teacher for the second semester. Home instruction was authorized for three students. High School Auditorium and Junior High Auditorium were approved for events on Jan 29 and Feb 10. Open House Week saw about 1,500 and 900 parents visit elementary and junior/senior high schools. 52 names added to Lincoln Township tax duplicate. Board congratulated coaches, teams, and Eagles Echo sponsors. Agreed to participate in Mid winter Institute and Tri State Area Study Council on Jan 26 1966 at Hopewell Raccoon School. Trexel discussed a hearing in Harrisburg about the re organization plan and reviewed programs under Federal Aid to Education.
