An 11 year old, Philip Parker, was struck by a car on Somerset Borough streets and admitted with a possible back injury. The driver cited limited visibility from blowing snow.
Audrey Hay of Rockwood is part of 31 U S delegates from 20 states who returned to Washington D C after six months as IFYE grassroots ambassadors in Israel and nine other countries. Four foreign scientists were honored by President Kennedy at a Kennedy Foundation dinner for advances against mental retardation and mongolism. Recipients include Ivar Folling of Norway, Jerome Lejeune of France, Joe Hin Tjio of Indonesia, and Murray L. Barr of Canada, with Samuel A. Kirk of Illinois cited for work in education of retarded children. Awards total 225000 dollars. Folling received 25,000 and Barr and Le Jeune received 25,000 each plus additional research grants for Barr and Le Jeune. Tjie received no grant as his work is NIH-supported.
