Bellefonte December 4 Two Rockview penitentiary inmates Robert Martin and Wilbur McFarland pleaded guilty to attempting an escape by sawing bars in their cell windows. Car Skids On Turnpike Injuring 4 Near Somerset
A Washington, D C man Robert Schmidt age 32, his wife Helen, and their two children Roberta age 4 and John age 2 were injured when Schmidt skidded on an icy patch on the Pennsylvania Turnpike three miles west of the Somerset interchange. Schmidt suffered a fractured rib and forehead lacerations while his wife had internal injuries and the children facial wounds. They were treated at Somerset Community Hospital and Mount Pleasant Hospital. The truck was operated by David Hanna 33 of Kirkwood New Jersey and was not damaged.
