Hunter Killed Apparently by Stray Bullet
A 39 year old man from Turtle Creek near Pittsburgh was shot to death while deer hunting in North Hampton. David Yenchi died from an intercranial hemorrhage after a stray high powered rifle shot. his own rifle was at his side and unfired. He hunted with six companions including his brother George. Yenchi’s death is Somerset County’s third hunting fatality of 1962. The coroner called the incident accidental pending investigation by state police and district game warden Edward Cox.
