Westinghouse to Resume Talks With CIO Union Monday
Westinghouse Electric Corp will resume negotiations Monday with the CIO International Union of Electrical Workers to end a strike now approaching eight weeks. The union, with about 44,000 members at 30 plants, seeks a 15 cent hourly raise, a one year contract, and limits on time studies. Westinghouse offered a five year plan with roughly 16 percent raises, already accepted by 14 other unions. The Independent United Electrical Workers with around 10,500 Westinghouse members also seeks a 15 cent increase.
