Moore's Pet Deer Shot By Passing Car On Route 31
A six point buck kept as a pet by John Moore was shot from a passing black sedan on Route 31 near the Moore cabin west of Bakersville. The bullet narrowly missed caretaker Mrs Irma Strausbaugh as two men fled after firing. Moore and his brother Jesse retrieved the deer and he later cared for two fawns and their mothers killed.
