Ag Days Draw Thousands for Progressive Days Opening
Roads to Berlin were clogged as about 15 000 visitors toured the 1972 Agricultural Progress Days at the Will and Croner Farms. The event featured one of Pennsylvania s largest State Plowing Contests, silage shows, vendor exhibits, livestock demonstrations, and farm career exhibits from Penn State. Winners included William H Crain, John P Miller, and Darvin Yoder in plowing with multiple second place finishers. Grand Champion was Weidler Brothers for whole corn plant silage. Reserve Champion went to Bernard and Gerald McMath. Continued on Page 2.

In Meyersdale the coal mine operator and borough officials agreed to move the strip mine about 2000 feet from the borough water shed and halt blasting until the underground water supply impact is tested.
