Somerset Soldier Bernard Smith Killed in Action in France
Sgt. Bernard L. Smith 25, son of Sheriff and Mrs. John S. Smith, died on a road near Paris while with the 110th Infantry in World War II. He married Lieut. Helen Moskey Smith, a Army nurses corps officer, in Winchester in May 1943. The couple had met briefly in England earlier and he had sent letters describing life near the front. He is survived by his parents, a sister Thelma Mason, and brother Oscar.
