Garret Man Is Arrested For Forgery
Samuel R. Hartman a 31 year old Garrett R D 1 man was arrested Friday by state motor police officers of the Somerset sub station and charged with altering and forging a certificate of title to an automobile. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Charles J Harrison Jr of Somerset early Friday evening and posted 2000 bond for his appearance at court. Officers allege Hartman forged the name of an enlisted army man on 4 title to a 1930 coach and then changed the model date on the title from 1930 to 1939. It is further alleged he then presented the forged and after certificate of title to a finance company in Somerset and borrowed 150 on the face of the certificate. This money it is alleged Hartman used to pay off an encumbrance against his own machine. Altered Certificate Officers charge Hartman had borrowed or taken the original title to the 1930 car from his brother in law S H Keefer of Berlin R D 1 and had then forged and altered the title certificate to fit his needs. After the month old loan was delinquent the manager of the finance company became alarmed and called in the assistance of the state motor police. They learned that the name Thomas R Wagner which was placed on the back of the title was a forged signature. Wagner officers claim has in the army since last Decem ber. Upon posting the required bond on such a felony charge Hartman was released for his appearance at the next term of court.

Remove Gas Rationing in Pittsburgh District
The Associated Retail Gasoline Dealers of Allegheny county urged removal of gasoline rationing in the Pittsburgh district. They voted to send a resolution to Oil Coordinator Harold Ickes and postponed a vote on a possible one cent per gallon price increase. The group charged Ohio dealers, not Pittsburgh, obtain most supplies and questioned cross-state rationing. President Donahue said the district received 10 million gallons more than needed last month and called for an end to rationing and ration cards.
