Jury Awards Diamond To Kern's Heirs
After lengthy litigation the replevin action for a diamond in James Henry Kent’s possession at his arrest for murder of George Kern was ruled for Johnstown Bank and Trust Co guardian of Robert Hartman Kern and Shirley Mae Kern. The case named Thomas F. Lansberry and Kent as defendants. The diamond was said to be worn by Kern before his body was found in Ogle township in December 1943.

Wandering House Finds Rest On Ankeny Avenue
The frame house moved from its original site now rests on a foundation along Ankeny avenue. Robert F. Weimer, Somerset township tax collector, purchased the house. Ted Horner of Johnstown completed the move Wednesday for Ben Stern who is handling the new foundation and future construction at the site. The old foundation will serve a new home Stern plans after scaffolding at St. Pauls Reform church is finished. The new house is planned as a 114 story structure about 28 by 30 feet. The Weimer garage was relocated to clear the lot for the house.
