Cow Plunges Into Old Well on Listie Farm Survives
A six year old Holstein on George Zellem’s Listie farm fell through a seven foot well cover while grazing. Neighbors heard the splash around 10:30 am as workers with a derrick hoisted the 1100 pound cow free after about two hours. The animal survived bruised from head to tail and returned to the barn minus her horns.

Three Injured in Route 219 Collision Near Somerset
Three men were hurt in a two car crash five and a half miles east of Somerset on Route 219. Max Bolick 29 of Belmont N C was in critical condition at Somerset Community Hospital with a fractured arm and abdominal injuries. Wayne Deaner 16 of Berlin R D 3 and Harold Cyphert 28 of Baltimore Md sustained minor injuries and were in satisfactory condition. Deaner drove the other car and struck Bolick's vehicle on a down grade, causing about 1600 dollars in damage to both cars.
