Ray Eugene Farmer, a 26 year old former Brink's guard, confessed to and led police to the $65 000 haul from a Brink's armored car after a lunch break theft. The money, in 13 packages of mixed denominations, was recovered intact at Glen Echo Amusement Park in Maryland.

Truck Tire Haywire Hit Injures Turnpike Worker
A maintenance jackhammer worker Robert Riggs aged 21 from Staiistown Pa was seriously injured when a heavy truck tire loosened in transit struck him on the turnpike 100 yards west of the Laurel Hill tunnel. The tire and wheel weighing about 250 pounds also damaged an eastbound car. Driver Willis Myler of Stony Creek Va reported the incident. Riggs was rushed to Somerset Community hospital with serious injuries including possible pelvis fracture and internal injuries.

Civil Jury Clears W E Blocher In Second Trial
Wayne F E Blocher of Salisbury was again cleared of liability in a $400 damage suit after a sealed verdict in the second trial. Lindeman of Boynton sued over a December collision on Union Street, claiming Blocher blocked the lane. The jury accepted Blocher’s defense that the road was clear and the Lindeman car struck him. A prior April verdict had favored Blocher. Attorneys Fike and Castle defended Blocher. A second case involving coal miners Roy and Lee Herring versus Charles and Mrs Lindeman seeks $18,000 over a leased right of way dispute and road blocking. Three Fire Engulfs Sanner Farm Tractor and Tool House
A gasoline spill on a 3 year old tractor operated by Clifford Berkey 17 hired man on the Woodrow Sanner farm RD 1 near Reid Weimer place caused a fire that destroyed a tractor tool house and the residence area. Berkey escaped after calling Somerset Centerville and Rockwood fire units from the farm telephone. The blaze spread rapidly from the hose to the house and nearly cooked thethree Sanners who were nearby. No explosion occurred and the fire was contained by the Somerset department.

Driver Falls Asleep In Car Crash Near Allegheny Tunnel
Three young men were injured when the driver Rodrick Reid aged 19 from Charlotte North Carolina fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a truck on the turnpike near the Allegheny tunnel. All three passengers, John Mackey 23 a sailor stationed in Baltimore and John McGaughey 22 of Rocky Ford Colorado, were admitted to Somerset Community Hospital in fair condition with severe lacerations and shock.

A pregnant wife entering the maternity ward of a local hospital led to her husband William M. Miller being arrested for desertion and non support. Miller, 20, of Meyersdale R D 2, was taken into custody Monday evening at his home by Officer Mark Swanhart and committed to Somerset county jail by Squire Robert Cook. The Millers had been separated for some time. Miller works as a farm hand and Mrs. Miller is a former Washington, Pa., girl.

Black man Clezra Vaughan arrested at turnpike interchange
A 30 year old Black man named Clezra Vaughan was found loitering at the Somerset interchange and arrested by Officer Ben Polokoski after failing to provide a clear account.
