Maj Arthur Murray a 36 year old Edwards AFB test pilot is hailed as the new altitude king of powered flight. Reports say he flew the Bell X1A rocket plane to a record higher than 83,235 feet set in 1953, possibly a mile or two higher. A seven man by five woman jury returned a verdict for the Liberty Brazing and Welding company of Pittsburgh in Somerset county court for 400 dollars. The suit stemmed from repairs on a tow truck delivered October 7, 1952 by Mike Sacco of Sand Patch. Sacco argued the price was 350 dollars while the plaintiff claimed about 930 dollars, with 550 later settled.
