Protesters Clash at Miami Beach During RNC Opening
Hundreds of demonstrators disrupted the Republican National Convention scene in Miami Beach blocking streets and clashing with police. About 800 people were arrested as CS gas filled the air and barricades protected Convention Hall ahead of President Nixon’s renomination speech. Delegates from several states had to walk to the hall after buses were disabled by vandalism and tire slashing.

At the county fair on Wednesday 11 year old Mark Sechler from Confluence RD 3 won the Junior Steer Show with a 1 045 pound purebred Hereford named Doc Judge Les Burdette selected the steer over Charolais Hereford and Charolais Angus crosses The reserve grand champion was Wade Armstrong with a 980 pound Angus from Somerset RD Other top placements included David Stahl and various 4 H and FFA participants in multiple breed classes The grain and seed crop results followed with awards for field corn winter wheat spring oats and more The forecast calls for partly cloudy warm and humid conditions through Friday with highs in the 80s to 90s.
