Bonnie Lou Ream of Markleton RD 1 was crowned the sixth Fairest of the Fair at Somerset County Fair preview. She received roses and a $50 prize from fair president Emerson Suder after a program including music by Jubilators Quartette and awards to finalists Jeanne Barbera and Amy Reffner. Today marks the first full day of fair activities with judging in the main exhibition hall and livestock barns followed by the Joie Chitwood Thrill Show in the grandstand.

Police Seize Pair In Church Burglary

Somerset County Youths Use 504 Child Welfare Services
Somerset County delivered 504 children with welfare services last year, including 282 in public agency care and 109 in voluntary agencies. Seventy five faced day care, 36 were in institutions for dependent children, and two in delinquent institutions. Total payments reached $71,233 with federal funds $2,015 and state funds $69,218.
