Somerset area man Clifford Harbaugh claimed the Horseshoe Pitching title at the Somerset County Fair defeating David Suder 27 7 25 21 25 12 in the final. Menno Yoder fell in the quarter finals to C C Hoover who finished third. Harbaugh earned 25 first prize and 5 top qualifier from 29 entrants. Suder 15 second prize. Hoover and Forney each 5 for fourth. Suder Hoover Forney Yoder advance to Garrett County Fair team. Prize money provided by First National Bank of Garrett. A wave of daylight gang robberies rocked Wichita as police feared a third night of violence. Gov. Shade School Board Hears Building Plans
Shade Central City Union School Board discussed preliminary plans for a new elementary building designed by Buchart Associates. The facility will include 18 classrooms and specialized rooms for kindergarten special education music art and multipurpose use and should be ready for 1970 71.
