Worker On Pike Killed By Car In Turnpike Accident
Two maintenance workers were struck two miles west of the New Baltimore service station on the turnpike. Dalton Shelter, 38, Bark Hollow, Bedford County, died when his body was crushed. Walter Carver, 37, New Baltimore, sustained a possible skull fracture and injuries. The passing driver, George Pete Angelos, 21, Baltimore, Md., struck the men while passing a tractor trailer operated by Clair Weyand, 24, Shanksville, and will face involuntary manslaughter charges. Damages to the two machines were $550.
