NASA announced Apollo 17 will lift off from Cape Kennedy at 9:53 p.m. EST December 6 for the last and longest lunar trip. The crew Eugene Cernan Harrison Schmitt and Ronald Evans will spend 82 hours on the lunar surface with splashdown planned in the Pacific December 19.
